New Jersey Future Statement on Infrastructure Bill Passage
TRENTON, November 8, 2021- New Jersey Future Managing Director of Policy and Water Chris Sturm released the following statement on the passage of the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act:
“New Jersey is projected to receive $1 billion for water infrastructure upgrades over five years from the federal infrastructure package passed by Congress on Friday. At a time when New Jersey’s drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater systems must address threats to public health and safety, this funding cannot come soon enough.
New Jersey has the opportunity to supplement these funds with American Rescue Plan funds, which will allow us to expand and accelerate the work to meet critical needs, including flooding, combined sewer overflow fixes, lead in drinking water, energy efficiency, and water and sewer affordability. These investments can significantly improve our communities, create jobs, and ensure clean water and waterways.”
