New Jersey Future statement on the creation of the Office of Climate Action and the Green Economy
TRENTON, February 16, 2021 —New Jersey Future Executive Director Peter Kasabach released the following statement on the creation of the Office of Climate Action and the Green Economy:
“Addressing climate change requires all departments within government to be on the same page and rowing together. New Jersey Future is encouraged by the Governor’s announcement of the new Office of Climate Action and the Green Economy. This office will build on the coordination work already underway through the Interagency Council on Climate Resilience and the soon-to-be-issued Statewide Climate Change Resilience Strategy. It is significant that the Governor has created this office, put a senior staffer in charge of it, and will provide the necessary resources and supports to make it an effective facilitator and expeditor of aggressive climate change policies and practices. This structure compliments the direction that the Biden Administration is taking at the federal level and should create new opportunities to leverage federal resources and align policies. We look forward to this new office accelerating adoption of new climate adaptation policies and practices within the departments and maintaining an open and transparent dialogue with the public.”
