Yesterday’s change in leadership in Trenton will likely have an impact on land-use policy in the state in the coming years. Though we’ll have to wait and see what exactly a Christie administration will mean for smart growth in New Jersey, Christie’s responses to a New Jersey Future questionnaire in the run-up to the election provide some insight into his stance on smart growth issues.  In that response, Christie touted his “Bringing Back Our Cities” plan, which includes tax incentives aimed at revitalizing urban areas. He also noted that “The Office of State Planning needs to be restored to a leadership role” in carrying out the State Plan (an issue highlighted here by NJ Future).

The full text of Christie’s response to the survey can be seen here. Answers from all the candidates can be seen here.
